Male Infertility / Non-Obstructive Azoospermia

Non-Obstructive Azoospermia

At Rebirth Women’s Clinic, we provide advanced diagnostic and fertility treatments for Non-Obstructive Azoospermia (NOA) — a condition where the testes fail to produce sperm or produce very few sperm. NOA is one of the more complex causes of male infertility, but with modern sperm retrieval techniques and innovative fertility solutions, many couples can still achieve successful pregnancies.

What Is Non-Obstructive Azoospermia?

Non-Obstructive Azoospermia occurs when sperm production in the testes is impaired due to hormonal, genetic, or testicular causes. Unlike obstructive azoospermia, there is no blockage; instead, sperm production is significantly reduced or absent.

At Rebirth Women’s Clinic, NOA assessment ensures:

  • Accurate evaluation of sperm production issues

  • Identification of hormonal or genetic causes

  • Right fertility treatment planning

  • Better chances of retrieving sperm for ICSI

  • Guidance for long-term reproductive planning

Our Approach to Treating Non-Obstructive Azoospermia

Comprehensive Diagnostic Testing

We perform semen analysis, hormonal profiling (FSH, LH, testosterone), scrotal ultrasound, and advanced genetic testing (Y-chromosome microdeletions, karyotype) to identify the root cause of sperm production failure.

Hormonal Therapy

In cases of hormonal imbalance, medications such as gonadotropins or testosterone-regulating therapies may help improve sperm production.

Micro-TESE (Microsurgical Testicular Sperm Extraction)

This is the most advanced sperm retrieval method for NOA. Using high-powered microscopy, tiny areas of active sperm production are located and retrieved for use in ICSI.

ICSI for Fertilization

Even a single viable sperm retrieved through Micro-TESE or TESE can fertilize an egg successfully using ICSI, offering high chances of achieving pregnancy.

Genetic Counseling

For patients with chromosomal abnormalities, CFTR mutations, or Y-chromosome deletions, genetic counseling is recommended before IVF to ensure safe and healthy conception.

Alternative Fertility Options

If sperm retrieval is unsuccessful, we provide guidance and support for alternative options such as donor sperm IVF.
